This position requires a technician who has intermediate hardware and software computer knowledge with the ability to work in a busy, fast paced environment. The technician will be required to diagnose and resolve computer hardware issues to support the needs of the faculty, students and staff. It is essential that the technician is able to multitask and has good communication skills. Some overtime may be required for special projects.
Essential Qualifications
- Intermediate hardware and software knowledge
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and setting up all supported printing platforms
- Proficiency in all daily administrative tasks with little supervision
- Demonstrated proficiency in many network troubleshooting scenarios
- Proficiency for many networking tasks in such areas as CAT5 and fiber termination, testing and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of wireless communication and the ability to effectively troubleshoot and install this technology
- Ability to lead small groups of technicians in network equipment deployment
- Good customer services skills
- Ability to communicate technical information to non technical audience
- Ability to lift 25 to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work toward mastery of new skills and technologies as the needs of the user community change
- Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently.
The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check and a pre-employment physical.
Preferred Qualifications
- A+ certification
- Certification to work on Dell, Apple, Lenovo and Xerox machines and printers
