Technical Service Engineer (Chemical Engineer)
Sterling Partners is a leading executive search firm representing some of the country’s top chemical, mineral, and petroleum processing companies. Our client is a leader in chemical adsorption and filtration technology used in the processing of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, oleochemicals, and biofuels. The company is headquartered Chicago, IL and is searching for a Technical Service Engineer for their North America business. The company is listed on the NYSE and has about 1000 employees, and they foster a team-oriented and collaborative work environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position will be based in the company’s state-of-the-art technical center in Chicago’s northern suburbs, and is responsible for providing field technical support for the company’s chemical adsorption and filtration business. Working in conjunction with the company’s sales team, the Technical Service Engineer will directly interface with the customer. This individual will be responsible for a variety of product, technical and process engineering services in customer facilities, as well as coordinating internal customer technical support at the company’s technical center. This job requires a person with a free thinking spirit, an entrepreneurial, can-do attitude, and the ability to work with minimal day-to-day direction. The position reports to the business unit sales & marketing director, and works in tandem with the company’s technical sales representatives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Serves as lead technical interface with key customers.
· Works directly on-site at key customer’s process facilities to solve product-related problems and issues.
· Identifies and communicates potential product-related process improvements to customer and to technical sales representatives.
· Provides written reports of activities, data, and conclusions related to customer’s process and on-site activity.
· Works alongside individual technical sales representatives in conducting plant tests at process facilities of potential new customers.
· Provides on-site training to customer plant personnel regarding proper product use, process conditions, and product benefits.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:B.S. degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.Minimum of 7-10 years of process engineering experience in a wet process industry. Minimum of 3 years working in a customer/technical service environment.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including direct customer interaction on a technical basis.Travel in the U.S. of about 40-50% of the time.
COMPENSATION: This position offers an aggressive base salary package plus a very achievable annual bonus plan. Paid relocation, full medical, matching 401K and other benefits.
