Technical Assistant/Laboratory Manager
TECHNICAL ASSISTANT/LABORATORY MANAGER, Materials Science and Engineering, to assist with molecular biology research and experiments. Will be responsible for daily lab operation, including ordering lab supplies, monitoring inventory, and maintaining all equipment service records and contracts. Additional responsibilities will include environmental health and safety training (EHS), acting as the EHS contact person for the Belcher lab, and maintenance/enhancement of the web site.
REQUIREMENTS: a minimum of a master's degree in chemistry or biology, at least three to five years of work experience in a lab setting, comfort with various molecular biology techniques including phage display and maintaining cell cultures, initiative, and excellent organizational skills. Experience with analytical techniques including atomic force microscopy, spectroscopy, and electrochemistry preferred. Should have some managerial/supervisory skills and experience. Strong communication skills and ability to get along well with a diverse group of people required. MIT-00005820 9/5/08
