USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering – Information Sciences Institute is seeking a Systems Programmer II, Release Manager, to join its team.The ideal candidate for this position will manage all phases of the software release process. He or she will work with the center development team and project managers to develop release procedures, set up packaging tools, create release candidates, run unit tests and end-to-end functional tests, and manage source code repositories. Responsibilities also include configuring and maintaining a small number of dedicated test machines, and setting up and maintaining an automated testing framework.Job Accountabilities:• Maintains complex operating systems including all of the monitor and executive code and all service routines.• Works with other members of the systems unit to produce new operating systems or conduct a major overhaul of an existing operating system.• Writes, debugs, troubleshoots and corrects errors in programs and ensures the efficient execution of user codes.• Supervises the implementation and integration of new routines into the operating system.• Installs and tests third party software products.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.Minimum Qualifications:Related undergraduate study with specialized/technical training. Two (2) years of experience in software programming.Combined experience/education may substitute for minimum education/experience.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree with three (3) years of experience. Strong written and communication skills. Individual must work well in a team and be self-motivating. Knowledge of testing tools such as JUnit, Linux configuration and administration tools, Tomcat, Axis, and Apache confirmation, virtual machine technologies such as VMware or Xen, Java, C, and scripting languages such as Python and Perl desirable.The University of Southern California values diversity and is committed to equal opportunity in employment.
