Job Title: Supply Chain Engineer Optics

Location: Rochester, NY 14603
Scope of Position:
Strategic Procurement Engineer at Corning Tropel, responsible for managing the commodity (supply base) of optical raw glass materials, optical polished components and coated optics. Critical role in the enhancement and growth of the overall supply chain.
This position is a combination Supplier Engineer/ Strategic Procurement Buyer role.
Responsible for assured supply of quality materials and services; effectively conducting Supplier relationship management programs, quality audits, Risk mitigation plans and low cost sourcing solutions.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Lead and Participate in cross-functional teams focused on process improvements, cost reduction and supply chain issue resolution
• Use formal Supplier Relationship Management processes to work with customers and suppliers to obtain continuous improvement in the supply chain
• Negotiation, execution and administration of supplier relationships, including contracts, performance monitoring and commercial activities with suppliers, many sole sourced and critical to Corning Tropel
• Identify, qualify and lead transition projects of new and second source suppliers
• Define, develop and implement a product strategy that obtains delivery, quality and value goals
• Assure that the ethical practices of Corning Inc. are upheld at all times
• Ensure that the proper safety requirements are planned for and implemented in Contracts and PO’s
• Manage the supplier interface to assure that customer needs are met through collaborative problem-solving and negotiations to achieve the desired outcomes
• Understand and rigorously execute the processes outlined in the Corporate Procurement and Transportation Quality Policy Manual and Global Buying Policy
• Resolution of issues between Corning Tropel and suppliers
Travel Requirements:
25 % Domestic and International

Required Education:
- Bachelors degree, preferably in Engineering
Required Years and Area of Experience:
- 3-5 years in Engineering or procurement roles
