We are seeking candidates for a Senior Drafter/Designer (Microstation) to support our Roadway Design Group in Arlington, Virginia. Duties: Works with professional staff in scheduling work and assigning support staff to their projects. Responsible for the training and development of staff. Assists engineer in outlining objectives, requirements and design approaches. Proficient in Microstation and may be knowledgeable in assist software such as GIS, 3D, Highway or Railroad design, Building design and Graphic Imaging. Responsible for gathering engineering data from a variety of sources. Attends project and pre-construction meetings and provides input to ensure proper policies, procedures, and specifications are followed. Performs general administrative assistance by maintaining project plans. May develop documentation, budget figures, staffing needs and training plans, goals and accomplishments for project management reports; monitors accomplishments as related to targeted goals. Responsible for resolving technical design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work and data. Develops non-routine and complex plans, specifications, and reports. Calculates design data, prepares layouts, detailed specifications, estimates, procedures, etc. May have considerable client contact at staff level. Assists supervisor by instructing employees, answering questions and distributing, balancing and checking work. Coordinates assignments with other disciplines on multi-disciplines on multi-discipline projects. Able to interpret complex regulations and specifications. Ability to work effectively and participate in working relationships with clients and sub-contractors. Assists in preparing engineering studies and evaluations involved in the development of projects from initial concept to the design stage with assistance from the project engineer/architect.
