Spacecraft Reliability Principal Engineer

• Conduct reliability modeling to prepare functional models, reliability block diagrams & math models. • Prepare system/subsystem numerical assessments & Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA). • Perform reliability evaluation of new in-house unit designs & ensure compliance to design reliability guidelines. • Provide technical support to the Product Reliability Director, Design Reliability Department Manager & the Reliability Analysis Section Manager in the areas of hardware design & “lessons learned� of reliability ISSUES. • Support design & development with the focus of early identification & elimination or mitigation of overderated items, propagating failure modes & single point failures. • Provide guidance & training on reliability analyses, including circuit stress analysis, interface analysis, FMECAs, & reliability assessments. • Provide reliability consultation across product lines to quickly communicate reliability issues. • Support proposal effort by providing responses to customer queries, participating in trade studies, preparing creative solutions to unique customer reliability analysis & documentation requirements & establishment of bases of estimate, & proposal costings. • Monitor & participate in peer reviews of completed reliability analysis to ensure quality, consistency & adequacy of reliability analysis. • Identify & promote elimination of design deficiencies that degrade product performance & operating life expectancy of in-house equipment early in the design phase. • Ensure that contract requirements are met, planning of all reliability analysis efforts are completed, & that the costing/management of work is completed within budget. Requires: BSEE or Physics (MS preferred) with 12 years of Reliability experience in the satellite industry to Include aerospace experience in an Engineering & Manufacturing organization, advanced probabilistic statistics, applied Math & Calculus; excellent understanding of satellite or aerospace systems, excellent skills in using desktop computers for analyses & report preparation, proficiency in writing technical reports, oral & written communication, preparation & presentation of design review material, problems solving skills, leadership skills, interpersonal skills.
