Service Technician – Mechanical and Electrical
Basic Function:
Provides technical service or advises concerning technical matters during a machine installation or during repair service in a customer’s facility.
Core Competencies:
Skills:
· Able to troubleshoot machine problems and communicate to customer’s management.
· Must be able to work with no supervision.
· Must be willing to travel extensively both foreign and domestically to perform job function.
Education:
· High school education (or GED) with specialized knowledge obtained through less than one year of education or training on-the-job or through other training.
Experience:
· Three or more years experience in a similar field.
Other:
· Sometimes required to supervise customers’ employees when joint venture service/installations are required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Plans the work required and required tooling needed for them or others assigned to the job.
· Serves as the Ingersoll technical representative while on assignment.
· Acts in a technical liaison capacity when outside contractors are performing the work.
· Communicates the work plan and the progress to the customer and to the responsible manager at Ingersoll.
· Provides good written reports to Ingersoll Rockford.
· Aggressively seeks to build customer confidence and promote good customer relations.
· Completes timely service reports for work being completed.
· Assists in training new employees for specific job knowledge in all areas.
Mechanical Service Technician:Able to troubleshoot, repair, and install complex mechanical assemblies in customer’s facilities.Experience with precision hand tools,Must have ability to interpret complex blueprints. Must have knowledge pertaining to machine set up and alignments.Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and hydrostatic systems helpful.
Electrical Systems Technician:Able to read electrical schematicsExperience required with AC frequency drives and motors, DC drives and motors, feedback systems, hydraulic systems, and CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, etc.).Experience with startup and debugging of machine tools.
