Senior Strategist, Educational Technology Outreach

SENIOR STRATEGIST, EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY OUTREACH, Office of Educational Innovation and Technology (OEIT), to plan and implement efforts for increasing the awareness of educational innovation and educational technology applications at MIT and elsewhere. Will enable the development of communities of innovation and practice around pedagogies and educational technology; encourage knowledge sharing through forums, e.g., Crosstalk; employ web technology, multimedia and knowledge management, and social and semantic networking technologies for finding and utilizing appropriate educational resources; and present and promote MIT's efforts at major international and national conferences as well as through scholarly publications. Will also assist the director and leadership team in exploring future possibilities, directions, and strategies for OEIT work in coordination with partner units, departments, and initiatives; and engage in resource development efforts. May hire, train, and oversee staff.

REQUIREMENTS: a master's degree or equivalent postgraduate certification (a Ph.D. or research experience in educational technology-related area a plus); experience developing educational technology applications and an awareness of contemporary applications and issues of computing and media for education and learning; experience with current programming languages and authoring environments, e.g., Java, JavaScript, PERL, XHTML, PHP, and mashups; proficiency with UNIX/Linux, Windows, and Macintosh operating systems; and experience with various types of technology applications in education and pedagogical modalities (active learning, project-based learning). Excellent written and verbal communication and multimedia presentation skills expected, including the ability to communicate the educational value of technology.
