Senior Software Engineer/User Interface Developer

SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER/USER INTERFACE DEVELOPER, Broad Institute, to design and implement web-based user interface systems that support genomics research projects, work in conjunction with middle-tier and back-end developers to provide production support to existing applications, and assume a leadership role in developing UI standards and guidelines. Will be responsible for gathering design requirements and turning them into prototypes and subsequently into fully functioning user interfaces; and communicating effectively with technologists regarding specifications and implementation constraints, and with project owners regarding business goals and mission objectives.

REQUIREMENTS: a B.S. in computer science or computer engineering; eight years of overall experience and three years of experience designing/developing web applications using HTML/CSS/JavaScript/AJAX; experience with JQuery/Dojo or other JavaScript frameworks; proficiency with Java; solid programming experience in Servlets; experience with use of Java IDE (Eclipse, IntelliJ, Netbeans, etc.) and source control systems (CVS, Subversion); and familiarity with Apache Tomcat server set up and configuration. Experience with Tapestry, UNIX, web services, Spring, Hibernate, or relational database management systems a plus. Seek a self-starter with a strong work ethic who is capable of managing priorities and is eager to discover trends and adopt best practices in the field.
