Senior Software Engineer II
SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER II, Broad Institute, to provide software engineering expertise as part of a team that works on computational problems associated with genome sequencing, e.g., finding the differences between two genomes or reconstructing an organism's genome from huge numbers of tiny fragments. Will work with director and group leaders to define software engineering goals that support Broad's mission, including memory and time optimization, parallelization, testing, maintenance, and documentation; plan project requirements and provide accurate estimates of work, updating plans as necessary and proactively identifying technical issues; work with computational research and development team on process or design issues; build computational infrastructure to improve team efficiency; learn how to use computational biology tools, answer questions where appropriate, and build web documentation or collaborate with other Institute staff to accomplish these goals; work with systems group to tune computational configuration for optimal performance; contribute to and maintain shared, documented, reusable codebase; and interact and collaborate with other computational scientists, laboratory personnel, and biologists.
