Senior Project Controls Specialist (Power & Planning)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:· Develops, implements, and directs the Planning and Schedule efforts on power plant projects· As lead planner, provide daily direction & supervision for other planners and works with the Controls Manager to determine overall project schedule development plans & priorities· Develops and implements the Work Breakdown and Project Coding Structures to ensure consistency of data· Develops fully integrated, resource loaded EPC schedules as the baseline for control· Leads Field Planning team in development of the Commissioning Turnover plans and other specialty schedules as required· Provides timely variance analysis and an early warning to management on critical or near critical activities. Provides corrective action plans as required· Performs regular schedule risk analysis and manages schedule float· Develops and implements progress and performance systems to monitor physical progress in both the engineering home office and field · Analyzes variances in schedule performance against the plan, and communicates the reasons for the issuance of variance and proposed mitigation plans to Project Management· Provides accurate & timely "what-if" schedule scenarios as required by Project Management· Prepares input to the weekly and monthly progress reports and presents concise overviews of the schedule and progress performance to both internal and external senior management· Understands the profit drivers on projects and manages the schedule to enhance profitability. Provides evaluation of opportunities with management· Maintains working knowledge of the functionality of all scheduling tools· Provides meaningful, accurate historical data and schedule and performance metrics· Mentors, coaches, trains and develops new talent on projects · Prepares and reviews annual performance and development plans for direct reports· Evaluates employee performance and recommends annual salary adjustments commensurate with performance· In addition to project assigned activities, assists in review of other project schedules and conducts independent schedule audits on other projects as required· Participate in the development and implementation of training courses and mentoring of Project Controls personnel.· Other duties as assignedQualificationsEngineering or Construction degree or equivalent preferred. Ten to 15 years of relevant experience is required.Individuals working in the capacity of Senior Project Controls must have experience as a Lead Planner / Scheduler for a medium- to large-sized project or a Control Team Leader for a medium-sized project. Experience with Gas Fired Power Plants would be desirable.
