Senior Environmental Scientist
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or closely related discipline with emphasis in environmental characterization, assessment, and remediation. Requires a minimum of 5 years experience working on projects involving radioactive materials, site characterization, decontamination, and relevant regulatory requirements. Experience should include effective written and oral communications skills, use of MS Excel and other computer applications, and project management fundamentals. Ability to evaluate site characterization reports and data, as well as risk assessments. Ability to write technical reports and analyze field and laboratory data. Ability to manage field projects. Familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA, Atomic Energy Act, and MARSSIM criteria. This position also requires the ability to operate radiation survey equipment, to specify lab tests, and to interpret results. Experience with Microsoft applications including Excel, Access, Word, Project, and PowerPoint. Experience with project management systems. Experience with RESRAD, MicroShield, or comparable dose/risk assessment codes. Attention to technical detail. Ability to enter data into and utilize relational databases. Technical leader for a variety of tasks that address environmental and radiological hazards; works as an independent contributor and team member with other engineers, scientists, and regulatory personnel planning, assessing, remediating, and disposing of radiological and chemical constituents. Provide support for environmental characterization activities by defining problems, reviewing data, preparing assessments, specifying testing and analysis requirements, interpreting results, and clearly communicating findings. As a member of a project team, will review documentation; run confirmatory models; develop sampling/analysis strategies; and prepare specifications, work plans, applications, and reports. May work in the field periodically to collect samples, gather data, and observe/direct site characterization activities. Reports to senior engineers/managers on assigned tasks. Will be a team member and leader involving multiple disciplines, regulatory specialists, clients, and other technical and non-technical contributors/participants.xurs11x : : EOE M/F/D/V
