Senior Embedded Product Design Engineer, Technology Development (2240)

Exponent’s Technology Development Practice helps military clients to stay current with and benefit from rapidly evolving civilian technologies. Drawing on our multidisciplinary engineering, prototyping, testing, and failure analysis expertise, we identify, adapt, and leverage the best in COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) technologies from the private sector to create integrated systems and modules cost-effectively to address capability gaps for soldiers. Exponent has successfully identified and evaluated the best COTS technologies, developed integrated prototypes, qualified production processes, and upgraded modules with new technologies. Exponent is bringing an exciting and new approach to solving the military’s most challenging and urgent needs.
The Technology Development Practice is currently hiring for a Senior Embedded Product Design Engineer. This individual will be involved in concept development, prototyping, part specification, and documentation. Other responsibilities involve schematic capture, PCB layout, and embedded level programming. We are looking for bright individuals with a passion for solving engineering problems for military customers. Responsibilities include assisting on all projects and tasks with the practice’s clients and helping to coordinate the successful execution of technology projects deployed to the battlefield.
Qualifications for this position include: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering 3-5 years work experience Must be product design and detail oriented Ability to work with all elements of the design and coordinate/communicate with other team members Knowledge in the following areas: DC-DC switching power supply design for battery supplied systems; USB 2.0, 10/100/1000 BaseT Ethernet, SMBus, I2C, SPI and other low and high speed serial buses; embedded computing design from small 8-bit MCUs to large 64-bit x86 CPU integration; and power control to include battery monitoring, current monitoring, high-side switching Familiarity with multiple embedded development and use of C and ASM Knowledge of AMLCD display integration, LVDS, analog VGA as well as analog video conditioning and distribution Familiarity with EDA tools (schematic capture and PCB layout) Ability to work with outside fabrication vendors for PCB fab and assembly (documentation and coordination) Outstanding written and verbal communication skills Our contract with the United States Government for this position requires proof of U.S. citizenship and the possession of or ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearanceFor consideration, please apply online at www.exponent.com/careers and reference “2240” as the keyword, or click here: Application Page (2240)
