CA for video service providers has its origins in the former Scientific Atlanta SciCare Broadband Services organization, which helped service providers launch networks and services, expand, upgrade and build networks, integrate Scientific Atlanta technology with third-party and legacy products, manage key projects, plan, design, test, certify, operate and maintain network systems and train staff members on the latest broadband technologies and techniques.  We are currently hiring in Lawrenceville, GA for the following: STAFF SERVICE ENGINEER Summary:The Staff Service Engineer oversees field personnel’s on-site projects for our customers’ digital video headend/hub solutions. The emphasis is on customer service, technical proficiency and initiative. The candidate will have Cable Television or Telecom Industry experience. Responsibilities: Technical Project Engineer (TPE) duties Provide efficient and effective troubleshooting assistance to the field team of the digital video solution in a CATV environment to minimize system down time Work with 3rd-party vendors to integrate the S-A system with other network components Provide professional verbal and written system status updates to customer, SciCare management and Engineering Actively participate in customer conference calls Maintain knowledge of all S-A system release software upgrades Assist SciCare and Engineering in the implementation and testing of new products Participate in the installation of new headend/hub equipment Provide informal digital video system training to customer Troubleshoot very extensive and complex networks with the ability to resolve root cause issues and document the problem and resolution Minimum Requirements: 5+ yrs.’ industry related experience 1+ yr. of command line experience with Sun Solaris 2+ yrs. of end to end knowledge of WAN/LAN technologies (OSPF, TCP/IP, OC-3, ATM, VPN, etc) 2+ yrs.’ experience in configuring and troubleshooting routers and switches in a TCP/IP environment 2+ yrs. of customer facing skills Education: BS in Computer Science preferred or, Associate’s degree with 7+ yrs of related experience or, 13+ years of relevant field experience Travel: 40% travel, both domestic and international Preferred Experience: Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced network environment Team member, self motivated learner with 10+ years’ experience in the cable industry, working knowledge of Scientific Atlanta or Motorola Headends Analog/Digital Headend (CATV) system experience Ability to use a spectrum analyzer and protocol analyzer Video on Demand and MPEG knowledge Network or System administration certification in Solaris 8/9/10 CISCO certifications (CCNA, CCND, CCNP) HFC network design and troubleshooting experience Strong interpersonal, and communication skills (oral, written) Clarify Customer Information System experience Project Management skills Script writing abilities (Pearl, CGI) Informix Database knowledge IPTV/Streaming Video Connect with Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco company, and receive a competitive salary and exceptional benefits.
