SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER
Senior Environmental Engineer SUMMARY: This position provides technical support within the Environmental Engineering Department in Pittsburgh, PA. An M.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering is preferred. Primary activities will be to provide Senior Level support for the preparation of Feasibility Studies, Corrective Measure Studies, and selection of soil and groundwater remediation alternatives for government and industrial clients. The candidate may be requested to publish technical papers, and present at industry conferences. Day-to-day activities will be directed by the Environmental Engineering Department Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: · Provide support to on-going and new projects related to environmental remediation. Must be comfortable interfacing with federal, state, and local agencies. · Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinates detailed phases of technical work as part of a major project. Must be able to function with little direction to meet project goals. Must be able to take conceptual direction for project tasks and developed detail plans to complete task. · Competent to serve as a technical lead on large environmental projects. · Experienced at preparing proposals and technical reports. · Complete projects in accordance with the proposal schedule and budget. · Provide direction to staff personnel to complete project tasks and also mentor junior level technical support personnel. · Interface with Client Project Managers, government regulators, other contractors and other representatives. · Occasional overnight travel to locations within the continental United States is required. Minimum of 10 years of related experience is required. Candidates must have experience providing strong technical direction and support for environmental projects including the preparation of Remedial Action Plans, Feasibility Studies, and Corrective Measure Studies. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Candidates must have a broad knowledge of environmental regulations and remediation technologies. Candidates must possess knowledge to successfully perform environmental engineering activities including, site characterization, remediation technology selection, remediation system design, biological systems evaluation, chemical treatment design, as well as client and regulatory agency communication. Candidates must be self-motivated, creative and have strong organizational, inter-personal communication, writing and presentation skills. Computer skills must include Word and Excel. Ability to use Power Point is strongly desired. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Professional Registration (e.g., P.E.) is preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability toperform routine engineering design calculations. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
