Chevron Energy Technology Company is accepting online applications for the position of Research Petrophysicist located in Houston, Texas or San Ramon, California.Overview:Chevron is searching for a research petrophysicist with knowledge of petrophysical theory, log and core data, and petrophysical applications for earth science and engineering communities. The successful candidate will conduct research leading to improved interpretation methods and workflows for estimating porosity, saturation, pay, capillary pressure curves and relative permeability, velocities, geomechanical properties, uncertainties and geostatistical properties from log and core data. Research focus is on both reservoir and non-reservoir rocks.Qualifications:Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: Conducting petrophysical research. Developing workflows for practicing petrophysicists. Working to deploy products to petrophysical services. Developing research proposals. Mentoring and teaching earth scientists and engineers. Explaining complex petrophysical concepts to non petrophysicistsRequired Qualifications: Master’s degree in petrophysics, geophysics, petroleum engineering, geology, or physics. Demonstrated experience (presentations, papers, industry recognition) in the field. High level of skill in log evaluation techniques and a broad range of experience in reservoir types. Demonstrated ability to propose and conduct petrophysical interpretation R&D projects and deliver timely, useful results. Strong technical leadership skills and desire to advance the use and impact of petrophysical methods. Initiative to implement the action plan. Understand geologic and business objectives of exploration and development projects. Ability to work on multi-specialized team environment - integrating ideas from other technical specialists and fostering effective working relations with numerous customers. Demonstrated ability to handle numerous projects at the same time. Ability to align work activities with customer expectations.Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in petrophysics, geophysics, petroleum engineering, geology, or physics.
