PURPOSE:Directly assess and evaluate existing Distribution Center material handling equipment making certain all systems meet operational specifications and function as designed. Evaluate Distribution Center material handling equipment maintenance operations ensuring they meet quality, training, process, consistency and housekeeping guidelines. Serve as support in the DC Escalation Process (ES - RSS - Controls Engineer) for Distribution Center material handling equipment operational questions and equipment failures.SEE YOURSELF:1. Serving as the material handling systems operations and maintenance expert. Building an extensive technical understanding of existing Target systems and technology operational specifications. Being able to evaluate, troubleshoot and support those systems.2. Assessing electronics portions of Target systems and those directly supported by the Electronic Specialist including but not limited to: Cameras, Label and Apply technology, pick-to-light systems, symbols, radios and scanners verifying they function as designed and to specifications. Verify ES processes are in place to support all electronics systems assessed.3. Visiting Distribution Centers and assess Distribution Center material handling systems. Partner with Process Leaders and Regional Facility Operations Managers to evaluate and identify the root cause of why system operations do not meet operational specifications. 4. Serving as Target Facility Operations Maintenance processes expert. Evaluating DC maintenance processes for quality and consistent application. Being able to identify gaps in processes and root-cause when process expectations are not met. Promoting and driving material handling systems up-time and proactive maintenance.5. Identifing gaps in electronics and material handling equipment training. Serving as direct training resource to Mechanics and Electronic Specialists.6. Serving as first level exterior building support for all material handling related Distribution Center questions. 7. Driving building specific material handling system audits. Tracking opportunity findings and ensuring they are being communicated appropriately and root causes determined. Utilizing planned follow-up visits to verify audited equipment is operating as designed. Recognizing quality equipment maintenance and process implementation.8. Partnering directly with Facility Operations Process owners on issues that require additional scoping and involve system changes, quality issues or may involve multiple sites.9. Serving as a regional level material handling systems resource to Facility Operations Process Leaders, Process Owners, and Regional Facility Operations managers regarding DC-specific system challenges. 10. Serving as a technical resource and troubleshooting expert to Distribution Centers during equipment escalations.11.Material handling system project support.12. Presenting key concepts and ideas.13. Managing vendor relationships when necessary.14. Contributing to a positive work atmosphere and environment.REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:Reports to Process Leader, Facility Operations Technical Field Support Team. Works closely with Controls Engineer, Facility Operations HQ Process Owners, Electronic Specialists, Distribution Center Facility Operations Senior Group Leader, Distribution Center Group Leader - Facility Operations, Distribution Center Mechanic. Supports Regional Facility Operations Managers.JOB REQUIREMENTSMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:·Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or related degree·Extensive experience and knowledge of material handling system operations and maintenance.·Excellent strategic, innovative thinking and problem solving skills.·Strong organizational and administration skills.·Leadership skills, including interpersonal, communication and conflict management.·Strong cognitive skills, including problem solving, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis.·Negotiation and delegation skills.·Project management experience.·Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.·Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:·Engineering Degree or related certification.·Total Quality Management or Six Sigma experience.See The Rewards Eligible team members will receive one of the best earnings packages anywhere, including competitive pay, all-around insurance coverage, 401(k), flexible scheduling, training and development and many other perks and benefits.
