PURPOSE AND PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The position is based in Indonesia for Paiton III power project. Some trips to the USA office in Oradell, NJ  may be required. The stay in Indonesia is estimated to last 4 years.

The positions primary functions are:

· Plan, direct and coordinate Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities performed by the personnel assigned to the project.

· Recruit, train, qualify and maintain training and qualification records for all Quality Assurance and Quality Control personnel working at the project.

· Work in concert with those individuals responsible for other corporate functions including project manager, site construction manager and the staffs of Engineering and Design, Construction Management, Procurement Departments, etc. to ensure that all quality requirements are met by the construction contractor(s) and local fabrication shops.

 

The position requires good working knowledge of welding codes including welding of alloy and exotic materials. Familiarity with the qualification of welding and brazing procedures and the qualification of welders and blazers, and the maintenance of a welding and brazing program is the responsibility of this position.

 

Responsibilities

· Recruit, train and qualify Quality Assurance and Quality control personnel to support the construction of the Paiton III project. Provides the Specialized QA/QC Support to all the projects of the division/Department.

· Understand Indonesian Quality Assurance and other regulatory Codes and Standards pertaining to Quality Assurance and factors their requirements into activities to ensure compliance.

· Develops and maintains the Project Quality System Plan, if required.

· Develops and revises project specific QA Surveillance and Inspection Plans.

· Advices the Director QA of any required revisions to the Project Quality System Plan.

helps provide QA requirements for client proposals and vendor contracts.

· Assigns QA Engineer(s), QA Consultant(s), QA Supervisor (s) or Quality Control Inspectors to project specific activities on an as needed basis, as requested by the client.

· Coordinates and assures the review of vendor QA Plans/procedures for the project are in accordance with contracts, specifications, drawing requirements and referenced codes and standards.

· Assigns duties and responsibilities, and delegates necessary authority to the QA and QC supervisory personnel and staff.

· Develops and maintains technical competencies to support current and future project objectives.  Provides direction, instruction and training based on project needs and organizational directions to QA and others staff of the division.

· Conducts the technical and professional training of the members of the QA and QC staff.  Coordinates and supervises such training when conducted by others.

· Supervises, evaluates and critiques the performance of QA and QC staff under him/her.  Advises the Director, QA about performance and compensation for QA/QC staff.

· Maintains communication with Project Manager, Site Construction Manager, client representatives and other project personnel to address client concerns and satisfaction with work quality.

· Drives timely and adequate completion of corrective actions for the project, by constant interface with the Project Manager and Corporate Resource and Site Construction Manager.

· Upholds all corporate policies and programs in accordance with defined Standards of Conduct.  Complies with all applicable Country, Provence, State and Federal laws regarding equal employment opportunity. 

· Substitute for head office or site QA supervisor/engineer/consultant, inspectors on an as needed basis. 

· Participate in the development and maintenance of the construction site welding and brazing program.

 

 

 

Requirements for this position include:

· High School Graduate, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

· Graduate Degree or PE license desirable.

· 15 years progressive experience in quality assurance, quality control and welding within an engineering or power plant construction environment, including 5 years in responsible management position.

· Excellent skills in oral and written communications and demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate subordinates

· General computer literacy and in skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly- Word & Excel.

· Good presentation and training skills.

· Must be comfortable with long-term overseas assignment and Indonesian culture.
