Quality Assurance Engineer - Quality Systems
ArcelorMittal, the largest steel producer in the US, is seeking a QA Engineer for its Indiana Harbor Mill which is located in East Chicago, Indiana. East Chicago is located approximately 25 miles from the Chicago Loop.
Job Description:
The Quality Systems Engineer role focuses on supporting the achievement of plant and corporate quality metrics to improve customer satisfaction and increase competitive advantage.
Primary job functions include:
- Delivers tracking and analysis to measure progress against plant quality goals for rejects, reprocessing and customer complaints.
- Tracks mixed steel occurrences and helps establish processes for measuing and eliminating mix incidents.
- Increases the availability of useful data related to plant quality goals by coordinating with IT resources to implement improvements to GMS and other quality-related applications.
- Supports plant delivery goals by troubleshooting and correcting test reports that could result in shipping delays.
- Supports the annual business planning process by providing quality-related data and analysis for metric development and goal setting.
- Resource other departments can utilize to help them define objectives, actions and metrics to meet division/plant quality objecives.
- Provides accurate quality data and analysis in a logical and presentable format to QA personnel, plant management and others to facilitate achievement of their individual quality goals.
Skill Requirements:
- Proficient in the application of statistical process control and other quality tools as problem solving techniques. Utilizes the Corrective Action process to resolve quality issues by entering CARS into the computerized corrective action system as needed.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills
- Good problem solving skills
- Minimum requirements include OFS, Axiom, Microsoft Office, Access, SPC theory and application
- Knowledge of GMS, SAS, Six Sigma, Group Facilitation a plus
Experience Requirements:
- Five to ten years experience in quality
Education Requirements:
- Education discipline in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Quality desired
