Position Description:Chevron Corporation is one of the world’s leading energy companies. Headquartered in San Ramon, California, and conducting business in approximately 180 countries, the company is engaged in every aspect of the oil and natural gas industry, including exploration and production; refining, marketing and transportation; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation. Chevron Products Company is accepting online applications for the position of Project Manager located at its refinery in Richmond, CA. Chevron’s Richmond, CA refinery has been in operation for over 100 years. It is a refinery of high complexity processing approximately 240,000 barrels of crude oil per day. It is located on San Francisco Bay, north east of the city of San Francisco. This position is eligible for all Chevron Corporation benefits. Technical employees at the Richmond Refinery are also allowed to elect to work a compressed work week resulting in a three-day weekend every second week. It is not anticipated that this position would involve any significant travel.Overview:Chevron Products Company has several capital projects planned and is currently searching for experienced Project Managers to manage the capital project development and execution to include Engineering, Construction, and Commissioning. Responsibilities include providing overall leadership; championing the application of CPDEP (Chevron Capital Projects Gated Work Process) principles; and driving the behaviors necessary to ensure high level decision quality and top quartile cost performance. The estimated capital cost of a typical project is in the $3-24 million range. Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:• Leading the safe and incident free planning and execution of assigned general mechanical capital projects.• Leading project framing, alternative development and selection, project development and execution, and post project evaluation.• Coordinating all front end work leading up to the execution phase of the project.• Managing all detailed engineering, procurement, construction and start-up activities related to project.• Responsible for the cost and scheduling of assigned projects, including timely and accurate forecasting.• Establishing objectives and expectations for implementation of all necessary Chevron Project Development and Execution Process (CPDEP) tools, including obtaining “Best Practical” FEL (Front end loading) and Cost Index scores.• Responsible for developing staffing plans for projects, and managing experienced contract personnel.• Responsible for contract and purchase order development and submission• Responsible for developing project objectives for safety, scheduling, cost and operability.Required (Basic) Qualifications:• Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required. • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a Project Management role in a Refining environment is required.• Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.• Must have working knowledge of successful project management practices and methodologies.• Must have the ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision.• Must have knowledge of refining facilities and integration of project work in these facilities.• Must be a strong safety champion who will lead the project in achieving “0” incidents and injuries.Preferred Qualifications:• Project Management methodology training is preferred. • Familiarity with gated decision making processes is preferred.• Project Management experience with Capital Projects ($1MM - $25MM) is desired.Relocation Options:Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.International Considerations:Expatriate assignments will not be considered.EOE M/F/D/V Learn more about Chevron Location:Oakland/East Bay, CA 94801 Status:Full Time, Employee Job Category:Engineering
