Project Engineer IV

Growing consulting engineering firm centrally located in Raleigh, NC seeks a talented Professional Engineer with experience in substation design and project management.  We offer unlimited opportunity, competitive salary, and excellent benefits including ESOP and 401(k).

General Job Description Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates all aspects of substation design for electric utility entities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities Meet with upper management and clients to determine project goals, scope, budgets and scheduling. Design new systems for various substation projects up to 230 kV. Prepare plans and specifications for the purchase and installation of substation materials and equipment; solicit and evaluate bids received. Prepare cost estimates, bond justification reports and economic analyses for projects. Prepare labor contracts and bidding documents for substation/relaying projects. Perform construction observation at substation sites, including field modifications and designs, change orders and final inspections. Perform grounding studies for substations. Supervise junior engineers, secretarial personnel and drafting personnel as necessary for project completion. Develop project budgets and manage resources in order to comply with budget constraints. Communicate effectively with clients, vendors and employees at all levels.

Skills and Qualifications BS Degree in Electrical Engineering Professional Engineer's license required. 10-12 years experience in the field of electric utility substation design/operation. Experience with relaying equipment a plus.
