SUMMARY
The Project Analyst will be primarily responsible for maintaining and tracking program-wide workload statistics and distribution across three separate offices, as well as reporting status of individual projects in concert with overall Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Remote Sensing Laboratory (RSL) management objectives. The Sanborn Project Analyst maintains detailed workload metrics including workload balancing, task progress, resource assignments and actual work (hours) performed by individual resources. The Project Analyst also assists Project Managers with task scheduling and detailed office workload balancing; collects status information and metrics to generate detailed reports; and provides general support to the Deputy Program Manager.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Analyst supports three Remote Sensing Laboratories (RSLs) operated by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Resources Inventory and Assessment Division’s (RIAD)
The position works in a consultative role directly with the senior management clients, providing status, control and progress reporting support services on technology-based programs and projects. Specific responsibilities include:
· Maintain and track project workload statistics and workload distribution for program-level evaluation, using Microsoft® Office tools such as Excel and Word.
· Monitor project schedules using the full capabilities of Microsoft® Project.
· Collect detailed project status and generate status reports for each project.
· Assist in the creation of business cases.
· Assist in creating and compiling detailed specifications for automated solutions, based on user needs/requirements.
· Understand major systems functions and impacts of customer requests, and effectively communicates the impact/implications.
· Recommend solutions based on business requirements.
· Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field.
Exposure to technology courses of study a plus.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of two (2) years professional experience. Government contracting experience preferred. Experience with federal natural resource management agencies a plus.
Candidate must possess strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills, and be comfortable working with high-level, federal government customers, in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Ability to use email and calendaring tools (e.g., Microsoft Outlook), computer-based spreadsheets and word processing is required. General accounting and contract principles is desired, as well as experience with accounting systems and graphical representations of metrics. Advanced experience with Microsoft® Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Project is required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
