As a Product Test Engineer, Electrical, you will provide proactive assistance to clients by identifying and resolving product issues, along with providing timely and accurate test results and information to both internal and external clients that meet or exceed their expectations.
Duties & responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
o Offer problem resolution, as applicable, for any client issues identified, highlighted or questions with the aim of enhancing client satisfaction and improving client relations. Sample Preparation / TestingUnderstand and interpret standards for appropriate test methods, providing direction to staff and client, as required.Reviews contract requirements prior to testing in order to assure adherence to client requirements, and coordinates between labs. Acts as liaison to client services and technical staff.Evaluate products submitted for testing for quality / safety issues, as required. Conduct research for new testing services and standards.Evaluate test results data. Provide direction to clients relating to other BV internal lab information, as applicable.Report PreparationPrepares and reviews written technical reports and invoices.Technical ServicesPrepares verbal written communication to internal and external clients regarding administrative and technical issues, providing direction as needed.Interface with staff members internally and at other locations on interpretations and to ensure global consistency, providing direction to analysts, associate engineers, and technicians as needed.Research and develop new testing services / methods / procedures / set-ups, providing direction to analysts, associate engineers, and technicians as needed.Write, train, implement and update lab procedures, test protocols, and technical procedures, providing direction as needed.Provide technical opinions / recommendations / interpretations pertaining to compliance, requests, testing issues directly to clients or other BV locations.Interacts / participate with / in industry / government agencies to review, and interpret standards and regulations, providing direction to staff and clients, as needed.Prepares quotes with client services, assisting with identifying appropriate standards / protocols for testing, as required.Quality Adhere to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System and assist with the implementation and maintenance of the Laboratory Quality System.LeadershipAssists in developing department strategy, client / business development activities.Assist with quotes, proposals, presentations, calls to prospects and clients.Provide technical support to Technicians / Associate Engineers / External Clients.Lead and direct projects of lab technical support staff.
Skills and Requirements:Creativity, initiative, and independence in solving problems and developing methodsStrong written and verbal communications skills including the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting, with colleagues and clientsAbility to perform multiple tasks. Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet or exceed deadlinesProficiency with Windows, Word & ExcelAbility to critically evaluate data. Strong technical and mechanical aptitudeTechnical problem solving and process improvement skillsSolid working knowledge of UL, ASTM, ANSI and other regulations and standards relating to consumer productsIndividual and Team work ethic. Ability to mentor and instruct co-workers through direction and exampleKnowledge of statistical analysis tools a plusKnowledge of testing consumer products from laboratory / manufacturing / QA / QC perspectiveMust be willing to travel (minimal)
Education & Experience:Four year Engineering or Engineering Technology degree required; orFour year technology/technical degree and 2 years experience as a Laboratory Technician testing consumer products; orTwo year technology/technical degree, 6 years of industry related experience, and CQE.
