Product Development Specialist Job Description: Our client, make hearing protection products and they need a drafter/machinist to do prototyping.Position: Responsible for assisting in the development of new and/or improved products, processes and materials. The primary duties include R&D CAD design (Solid Works) and in-house prototype machining. Also responsibility for managing various R&D projects as approved by the Product Commercialization Committee and as assigned by the Director of R&D. As well as accelerate the Preliminary, Feasibility, and Development cycles of the Product Commercialization Process by rapidly evaluating product concepts and prototypes utilizing proven skills sets; including, CAD drawing, machining, tooling (exp a bonus, - exp with injection molding and making the required tools) and materials knowledge. EDUCATION AND/OR SPECIAL TRAINING: BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.EXPERIENCE AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Ideal candidate has strong CAD drawing skills (Solidworks) and is also an experienced machinist who can fabricate parts using conventional and/or CNC equipment. Job requires both skills. Hands-on working knowledge of R&D product development process, from concept to CAD drawings to machine-shop fabrication, both in-house and outside vendors. Strong project management skills are required to execute and complete product development and process improvement initiatives. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Proficient in Microsoft Office suites.
