Your Ingenuity is welcome!RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: This position is both a software development and leadership role within the embedded software organization at York. Duties include: • Setting the standard for performance by example, both in terms of code quality and dedication to producing world-class software; • Supporting and encouraging a philosophy of cooperation within the group, and being both a role model and mentor for more junior software engineers; • Refining and improving York's software development process; • Coordinating and participating in software design reviews and code reviews; • Independently coding, testing, debugging and modifying complex embedded systems software to ensure conformance to design specifications and the York Software Development Process; • Preparing and maintaining project schedules and budgets; • Documenting and archiving software program releases in accordance with York's Software Development Process; • Functioning as a technical member on multiple project teams to ensure that project objectives are met in accordance with the York Product Development Process and York Software Development Process; • Developing software requirements specifications and software functional specifications; • Keeping abreast of technical advancements in programming languages, techniques and tools. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Strong verbal and written communications skills. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, schedule driven, team oriented environment. • Familiarity with modern software development techniques, such as pattern-based software development, use-case driven software development, object modeling tools, and modern processes such as UP, XP, PSP, etc. • Proficient with business productivity software, including Microsoft Project. • Familiarity with debug tools and in circuit emulators.   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with a strong background in software development and/or software engineering.  At least seven (7) years of embedded systems software development experience is required, preferably using both procedural and object oriented languages. Experience with industrial control systems and 8/16/32 bit microcontroller architectures is also desired. Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus and Ethernet is a plus.  Must be proficient as an embedded developer using real time operating systems.
