Principal Engineering, Communication Services - SIP Engineer - Philadelphia, PA

Responsibilities:

- Engineer and support new services and network topologies in support of business requirements
- Evaluate various implementations to determine compliance with business requirements and external specifications (e.g., PacketCable and IETF specifications)
- Create vendor technical requirements, specify network implementations, and prototype implementations in the lab
- Troubleshoot lab and field issues across multiple vendors
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with peer organizations, suppliers and peering partners
- Proactively identify service improvement and alternatives that may be beneficial to Comcast

Department:

The Communications Product Engineering organization is in charge of engineering and delivering Comcast Voice service infrastructure. It defines, engineers, and implements new service and infrastructure components in the Comcast network and maintains a proactive view of the network health.

Project:

Implement SIP routing across Comcast Communications network including vendor management of solution suppliers. Responsibilities include requirements documentation, design, configuration, and support of SIP based routing solutions including SIP Proxies and Session Border Controllers (SBCs). This individual must have the ability to set up and verify system functionality across multiple network elements and vendors and work with other organizations to test, deploy, troubleshoot, and manage SIP network elements



Required Skills:
Requirements:

- 7+ years of hands-on VoIP experience. Work experience with on SIP and IMS desired.
- Knowledge of ENUM standards
- Familiarity with voice services and telecom routing rules for local, long distance, and international calls.
- Demonstrated analysis and innovative problem solving skills using a systems thinking approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with minimum direction
- Ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and maintain working relationships with all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
