Principal Civil Engineer
* Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.* Professional Engineer license. * Minimum 10 years related experience, which includes drainage design and work on varied hydraulic designs using HEC-RAS and various storm water BMP design programs.* Minimum 2 years plans and specifications experience.* Proficiency in HEC-RAS & HEC-HMS software and Microsoft Word & Excel. * Good oral and written communication skills. Candidate will be required to have the skills to clearly communicate with client & management. Must also be able to document and present work in a clear and concise manner.* Good supervisory and interpersonal skills. * Valid Driver's license. Position requires occasional travel to field/client sites and other URS offices. Job Description : In this position, candidate will lead the Drainage Design/Hydraulics group in the design of storm water facilities and direct other hydrologic/hydraulic projects. Candidate will have the opportunity to use their engineering skills to integrate LiDAR based mapping and stream survey data with HEC-RAS and HECHMS to perform Flood Risk Studies.Responsibilities / Objectives* Conduct County Wide Flood Risk Studies.* Design major flood control elements, including levees, floodwalls, closure gates, pump stations and channel improvements. * Hydraulic design of waterway crossings, including scour analysis.* Design storm water drainage systems, including water quality elements and BMPs.* Project permitting. * Supervision of 2 - 5 staff members, depending on workload. * Occasional travel to field/client sites and other URS offices. This position is part of our Water Resources Group, working with a team of 14-18 staff members, including registered Professional Engineers, Professional Planners and Certified Floodplain Managers. Reports to a Water Resources Vice President. Opportunity to work on long term Federal projects.URSCB7xurs29x : : EOE M/F/D/V
