Unimin Corporation, the leading U.S. producer of industrial minerals, has an excellent opportunity for a technical professional on the way up to take charge of these critical managerial roles at our Oregon, IL & Tamms, IL facility.




Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will grow your leadership skills directing the facility’s day-to-day and long range activities; leading mining, processing, maintenance and shipping supervisors/workers while executing Company plans and achieving production goals. Your leadership will ensure that the facility consistently meets customer product quality requirements, maintains overall plant costs, and recognizes staffing, safety and worker development needs.  In addition, you will focus on long-term plant goals by preparing, submitting and administering processing forecasts and capital and operating expense estimates.  Throughout you will ensure the site complies with MSHA and other local and federal environmental and safety and health regulations.




You will be working in one of our more than 45 mining and processing facilities in the US and Canada that produce high purity quartz, nepheline syenite, glass sands, frac sands, foundry sands and other silica sands. Our customers are in the glass, ceramics, plastics, oil service, semiconductor, quartz lighting, refractories, paint and coatings, metallurgical and construction-related industries.




The successful candidate will have an Engineering Degree (or equivalent technical degree) and 4 – 6 years of experience in mining, mineral processing, industrial manufacturing or a related industry, or the equivalent expertise from directly related work experience.  Must be computer literate and possess strong communications and leadership skills.  Proficiency in understanding mechanical systems and machine maintenance requirements preferred.
