Organic Synthesis Fellow

ORGANIC SYNTHESIS FELLOW, Broad Institute-Chemical Biology Platform, to work in a state-of-the-art research facility as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the development of biological probes. The platform is comprised of scientists from a wide range of disciplines (chemistry, biology, computational science, software, and automation engineering), all innovating and working cooperatively towards these goals. Probes will be developed from hits derived from multiple high-throughput screening campaigns using modern synthetic organic chemistry. Structure-activity relationships (SAR) will be developed to optimize multiple drug-like properties of the hit compounds. Both solution- and solid-phase formats will be utilized toward probe development. The creation and use of small molecules to probe the functional genome is a fertile area of research that facilitates the translation of biological insights into powerful new medicines. This extraordinary research environment has capabilities in synthetic organic chemistry and high-throughput screening, which are integrated using informatics and computational analysis.

REQUIREMENTS: a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry. MIT-00005749 8/15/08
