Non-Destructive Testing Engineer

United States Steel Corporation – Lorain Tubular Operations has an immediate opening for a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Engineer.  Working as part of the Quality Assurance Department, the incumbent will provide NDT leadership for the facility.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  Maintain and develop NDT Procedures for Lorain Tubular Operations Monitor and audit all plant NDT equipment including Electromagnetic, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Eddy Current Grade Verification, and Spectrotest. Evaluate new equipment for the facility and investigate new methods or techniques to increase the efficiency of current equipment. Administer NDT training for management and union personnel, and maintain all NDT training records. Assist with manufacturing and tracking NDT reference standards. Coordinate and audit outside NDT services used by the plant.

Job Requirements:
Valid Level II certification in the Ultrasonic and Magnetic Particle methods. Electromagnetic certification preferred, but not required. Must be willing to pursue Level III certification in the applicable methods. Minimum three years NDT experience, with prior tubular experience preferred.
