NUCLEAR CRITICALITY SAFETY ENGINEER

 

USEC Inc. – A global energy company, is the world’s leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants.

 

USEC Inc. is seeking a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer to join its staff at their Piketon, Ohio facility.

 

Key Responsibilities 

· Develop a through understanding of the NCS program and the NCS reports supporting the ACP.

· Develop and maintain nuclear criticality safety evaluations for ACP systems and operations.

· Perform walkdowns of the ACP and Lead Cascade operations and facilities to ensure they are in compliance with the associated NCS programs.

· Review drawings, procedures and work plans to ensure NCS commitments are properly addressed.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· BS degree or equivalent in engineering, mathematics, or related sciences

· Minimum two years experience working as an NCS Engineer at a nuclear power, uranium enrichment or fuel processing facility.

· Minimum five years experience working as an Engineer at a nuclear power, uranium enrichment or fuel processing facility.

· Understanding and experience performing nuclear reactivity or radiation shielding calculations, establishing and implementing proper NCS controls, implementing the double contingency principles.

· Knowledge of 10 CFR 70 and/or 10 CFR 76 regulatory rules.

· Understanding and experience establishing probability for the occurrence of criticality events.

· Experience with the following software tools or similar: KENO, SCALE, MCNP, and MICROSHIELD

· Understanding and experience reviewing engineering designs, facility operating/maintenance procedures, and work instructions.

· Understanding and experience with mechanical, electrical, and control systems at nuclear power, uranium enrichment, fuel processing, or chemical processing facility.

· Technical communication and organizational skills.

· Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” clearance.
