Mechanical Design Engineer - Solidworks preferred

 

PURPOSE

To participate in the design of assigned projects relating to packaging machinery and equipment by providing sound design principles and experience to meet Technical Requirements, design integrity, performance specifications, product quality, and cost objectives. Prepares low cost designs and complete documentation of packaging machines, machine systems, and components that meet our client's & industry standards. To understand and adhere to their Mission Statement focus with respect to designing functional packaging machinery that meets the market needs.

ROLLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides experience and leadership into the proposal, conceptive design,
layout, and checking of packaging and other related machinery to meet
engineering program objectives.

 

  Support and prepare cost effective concepts and designs with complete
documentation of packaging machines, machine systems and mechanisms
while maintaining time estimates and project schedules.

 

  Works closely with Mechanical Lead Function Engineer, Manager Projects,
controls engineering, production, leaders and designer in developing new
ideas.

 

Leads the efforts of internal designers and outside design /engineering
personnel in producing low cost designs with error free documentation
meeting specifications on time & within budget,

 

Assures all designs meet industry standards in form, fit, function and
sanitary requirements, in a cost-effective manner.

 

  You will ensure that your drawings comply with relevant ISO standards.

 

You will ensure that all design components are designed to the correct
requirement of 3-D modeling and required components are designed to the
requirements of Top Down Modular Unit principals

 

Must possess good interpersonal skills and communicate designs or
concepts through designer through daily, weekly and/or bi-weekly reviews.

 You will be responsible to ensure that all documentation and designs are uploaded in Windchill (drawing management system). You will be responsible to maintain all changes of documentation and designs in Windchill to reflect the actual status of the project at any time.

 

 You will ensure that all designs and drawings are checked and verified by yourself before issuing for approval.

 

You will ensure that all items in your design are reflected correctly on your parts list.



INTERDEPENDENCE

This position requires good relations with other departments as well as extended inter-departmental people skills directed toward the team approach.

KNOWLEDGE

In Mechanical Engineering, 3-D Mechanical Design and Detailing and Manufacturing Methods and. Experience in working in team matrix environment. Working knowledge of Food packaging regulations i.e. FDA, CE, and 3A standards. Working knowledge of shop practices, materials (stainless steel) and electrical components with respect to mechanics.
