United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Manager, Plant Accounting at its Fairfield Tubular facility, located in Fairfield, Alabama. The Manager, Plant Accounting will be responsible for the overall development of business plans, forecasts and financial analysis of the Plant.
Major Responsibilities:
· Establish production and costs statistics, cost improvement projects, annual inventory values, commercial information and various reports
· Responsible for the implementation and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other technical accounting guidance at the plant location
· Assure compliance with U. S. Steel corporate policies and procedures
· Work closely with top management to provide analytical support
· Interface with personnel from Plant operating and staff groups, USS Headquarters, internal and external auditors, and various external groups for coordinating, interpreting, and assigning priorities to their activities and requests
· Actively participate in, support, and guide USS Analytical Team activities
· Administer and direct the activities of the line accounting and/or analytical staff consisting of personnel who control inventories, general accounting, accounts payable, storeroom and other line accounting functions
· Understand and adhere to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements. Coordinate and direct SOX internal control program
· Represent the Controller when required
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related business field (MBA is preferred)
· 10+ years Accounting experience (line and analytical), including in a manufacturing environment
· Microsoft Office proficiency (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
· Working knowledge of Oracle Financial modules
· Knowledge of back office accounting functions (i.e. Accounts Payable, Shipping & Invoicing, Inventory Tracking & Control)
· Knowledge of Consolidated Accounting, Cost Accounting and Financial Analysis
· Knowledge of Financial Statements, Sales and Use Taxation, internal controls and SOX requirements
· Supervisory experience of management, non-exempt and represented employees
· Willingness to relocate
· Strong overall business skills and common sense approach to issues
· Thorough understanding of a manufacturing environment
· Demonstrated ability to analyze complex and diverse information
Other Skills:
Communication, Teamwork, Organization, Leadership, Problem Solving and Planning skills and/or work experience, is desired
