Lathe Machine Operator

1) Setup and operate several types of machine tools of a similar type (conventional or CNC) on a regular basis working on a variety of complex parts to close tolerances with average to complicated setups. Works with minimal support or supervision. Selects appropriate feeds, speeds and tooling. 2) Supports Lean Enterprise, Quality, Safety and Productivity initiatives through appropriate levels of participation in 20 Keys Cell Certification process and Team Meetings. 3) Assists in problem solving and troubleshooting of equipment breakdowns and production efficiency issues. Assures appropriate material and tools are available.
Experience and Skills:
A High School degree or equivalent and 2 - 3 years of manufacturing Lathe experience.  Must have thorough understanding of shop math and machine processes. Must be able to stand for the majority (95%) of the shift and lift a maximum of 50 pounds. Must also demonstrate proficiency in; verbal and written communications, blueprint reading and translating technical information. Advance technical training or department specific product knowledge/experience would be a plus.Â
