Thurber Engineering Ltd. is a geotechnical and environmental consulting firm with offices in Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, Calgary, and Toronto and other locations in Canada.  The firm has been in business since 1957 and the Vancouver office currently has 22 professional and technical staff.

The Vancouver office has a varied practice providing engineering services for wide range of projects from large, transportation and infrastructure works to commercial and industrial construction projects.  The scope of our work ranges from preliminary site assessments for geological hazards to detailed foundation design.

We have opportunities for Geotechnical Engineers in Vancouver, Victoria, Squamish and Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.

Responsibilities:Prepare proposals and cost estimates for geotechnical investigations and studies.Conduct engineering analysis and prepare technical reports for routine and complex projects.Manage projects for schedule and budget control.Supervise, guide and review work of junior engineers.Communicate with clients and coordinate work within a multidisciplinary project team.

Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Geological or Civil engineering (geotechnical specialization) is required.  Post-graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.Minimum 5 years experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably in the consulting industry.Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.Valid Drivers License

Required Skills:Experience with geotechnical consulting for large industrial or civil municipal projects.Excellent written and verbal English communications skills.Capable of using both in-house spreadsheet and proprietary software to solve technical problems.Capable of working with other technical staff and to contribute to team success.Business development skills would be an asset.
