IT/ Engineering Systems Specialist

Environment: 

 

Software build process is initiated by developers on Windows accessing IBM ClearCase (version 7.1), running on a Sun V440 (running Solaris 10 and ZFS).  Using Samba, requests are sent to two IBM 3850 M2 physical servers.  These servers are running ESX Standard Edition, and consist of 10 Windows 2003 servers, running Rhapsody; and 10 Red hat Linux Servers used for compiling. Due to compatibility issues, we are running a 3 year old version of Redhat.  This build process home built using Perl scripting and Java code.  Some of the challenges we are currently facing with this environment are crashing Windows VM’s, time synch and ClearCase permission issues, Rhapsody hanging.  We also need to continue to work towards improving overall performance in order to decrease build times.  

 

This environment is connected to an NT 4.0, and users are in the process

 

Job Requirements:

 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience: 5+ years hands-on experience working with engineering and IT systems.

Knowledge: Sun Solaris (10.x, ZFS), Linux Redhat, Windows 2003, Maestro, NFS, Sendmail, DNS/BIND, Samba. Strong knowledge in TCP/IP ports, protocols required.  Working knowledge of Tivoli TSM, ClearCase, AccuRev, Subversion, Rhapsody, Bugzilla, Wiki and is a plus.  Proficiency in using scripting languages (Unix, Shell or Perl).  Must have sound experience with Software Engineering standards and tools (version control, problem reporting systems).  Experience with Software building tools, and or evaluating, installing and configuring Software tools.

 

Abilities: Analytical and attention to detail mandatory. Experience in both physical and logical file system designs. Must have strong interpersonal skill and possess the ability to interact with end users in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
