NAVAL REACTORS FACILITY - IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO



The Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) is operated for the Department of Energy by Bechtel Bettis, Inc., and is located at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). NRF receives, examines and prepares naval spent nuclear fuel for temporary storage. The information derived from the examinations provides engineering data on nuclear reactor environments, material behavior, and design performance. This data is used to develop new technology and to improve the cost-effectiveness of existing designs.



NRF is seeking a Health Physicist.



The candidate will provide health physics support within the Radiation Health Office and Radiochemistry. Responsibilities will include overseeing bio-assay program both invitro and invivo, establishing controls and limits for work with mixed and varied radioactive nuclides, evaluation of radiation detection equipment, oversee dosimetry monitoring program, perform internal dose assessments and work with historical exposure records in preparing exposure histories.  Provide recommendations for ordering new equipment for radiochemistry.  Experience with laboratory instrumentation and be able to troubleshoot problems.  Candidate must have or able to obtain and retain Health Physics Certification.



Education/Expected Experience: A BS degree in Health Physics or related field is required.



U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED
