Position Description:

Products include: electro-fused ceramics, high performance refractories, advanced ceramics, silicon carbide, specialty crystals, chemical process products and high performance plastics.
Qualifications:
To provide technical direction and lead improvement efforts for sapphire and laser crystals in the Growth Department. Process responsibilities include material preparation, growth station design and set up, growth parameters, monitoring, harvesting, evaluation, and annealing. Technical support includes but is not limited to project design, equipment specification, field troubleshooting, process design and process improvement, developing and revising procedures, developing job plans, conducting safety analysis, pursuing reliability improvements, manage minor projects. The successful candidate will be required to troubleshoot processes, design tests, interpret results and make process changes. He/she will be required to maintain a safe working environment in the areas of responsibility. This position requires coordination with supervisors, other engineers, technicians, production, and maintenance personnel. He/she will provide technical direction, answer questions, solve problems, and provide training. Good written and verbal skills are a must. The individual must fit into a high performance organization, where solid and tangible results must be constantly produced. Requirements:• A person in this position should possess a 4-year engineering degree (Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Science) with 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment specifically related to crystal growth, silicon growth and/or processing.• The successful candidate must possess solid practical and theoretical knowledge of the complete growth process as well as related production/maintenance processes.• Demonstrated project management skills related to scope definition, planning, progress tracking, documentation and implementation.• Experience using Statistical Process Control and be familiar with Lean Manufacturing and DOE principles.• Able to write detailed work instructions/standard operating instructions and train operators.• The individual must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing both within and external to the department. Although this position is located in Washougal, Washington the candidate must be willing to occasionally travel and accept assignments for extended periods at other plants.
