United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Manager, General Accounting at the company headquarters located in Pittsburgh, PA. The Manger, General Accounting will be responsible for the implementation and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other technical accounting guidelines.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 Assure compliance with USS Corporate policies and procedures Lead staff of non-exempt and exempt personnel engaged in Headquarters general and consolidated functions Administer and direct overall consolidation of corporate financial statements, including the set up of new business structures and/or units for consolidation purposes Administer and direct account analysis/control and recommend and/or implement corrective action to bring accounts into compliance with corporate requirements Administer and direct continuous improvements to current practices/processes Administer and direct correlation between balance sheet and income statement accounts Acquire detail from various areas and develop explanations to support fluctuations between accounting periods or to highlight unusual or significant items Administer, direct and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual statements and reports for use by other functional areas Guide and assist division/subsidiary accounting personnel Represent Director, General and Consolidated Accounting when required

Minimum Requirements:

 Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting or related business field 10+ years of Accounting experience (line and analytical), including in a manufacturing environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) Working knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management and Oracle Financial Modules Thorough understanding of a manufacturing environment and joint venture operations Strong overall business skills and common sense approach to issues Knowledge of shipping & invoicing, inventory tracking & control Knowledge of consolidated accounting and financial analysis Working knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, internal controls and SOX requirements Ability to deal effectively with customers, vendors, and outside agencies Experience with supervising management, non-exempt and represented employees Willingness to consider relocation opportunities for future professional growth

 

Preferred Experience

 Master of Business Administration (MBA) Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

 

Other Skills:

Communication, Teamwork, Organization, Leadership, Problem Solving and Planning skills and/or work experience, is desired
