Gas Technician I
I. Job Summary This position reports to the Gas Operations Manager and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection systems. II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by department. *    Properly operate and maintain gas collection system on a timely and cost effective basis in order to achieve minimum performance standards o    Monthly Wellfield Monitoring o    Liquid Level Measurements in Gas Extraction Wells o    Pneumatic Pump Cleaning / Maintenance o    Wellfield Maintenance o    Daily Preventative Maintenance / HDPE Pipe Welding o    Routine Blower / Flare Operations o    Condensate Management System Maintenance o    Monitor lfg perimeter probes o    Quarterly Surface Scan (NSPS Sites), if required *    Downloading of Wellfield Monitoring Data Verification of NSPS Compliance III. Supervisory Responsibilities *    This job has no supervisory duties. IV. Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. A. Education and Experience Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; drivers license Preferred: Landfill gas field experience B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements None required. C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required *    0 to 3 Years of landfill gas field or related experience *    Pass Landfill Gas Technician I Certification Training *    Basic Understanding of Environmental Regulations which affect the operation and compliance of landfill gas management systems *    Basic Computer Skills *    Understanding of Health and Safety LFG Issues *    Mechanical - Technical Aptitude *    Entry level familiarity with landfill gas instrumentation and wellfield tuning activities *    Able to discern the difference between Monitoring and Tuning *    Opacity training V. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. *    Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc) most of the work day *    Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 50 pounds on occasion; *    Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often *    Normal setting for this job is in the field *    OSHA Level D and personal protective monitoring devices.
