Finance and Data Management Officer

FINANCE AND DATA MANAGEMENT OFFICER, Lemelson-MIT Program, to assume primary operational responsibility for executing the daily financial services of the department with current annual activities exceeding $2.5M, and for data and data base management. Will develop long-term financial management strategies for the program; implement and deploy analytical tools for program operations and the strategic allocation of financial resources; serve as primary point of contact with the Office of Sponsored Programs and Controller's Accounting Office; work closely with program officers to develop budgets and administrative content; interact with sponsor representatives on pre- and post-award operational issues; lead the implementation and application of business practices to ensure compliance with sponsor and MIT financial policies and procedures; work with the executive director on financial issues affecting employee and visitor appointments; serve as primary liaison with financial officers in other departments; and review and negotiate acceptable contract arrangements.

REQUIREMENTS: a B.A./B.S. ; at least five years of financial and data management experience; excellent administrative and organizational skills, including ability to multitask, set priorities, and manage competing priorities; ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision and frequent interruptions; a positive service attitude; and excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills required, as is attention to detail and ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion. Advanced computer skills in a Macintosh environment required, i.e., Microsoft Office software, e-mail, electronic calendaring, and Internet searching. Must be proficient with basic accounting principles and processes. Experience with MIT financial and other systems needed, including SAP, BrioQuery, and the Data Warehouse. MIT-00005625 8/4/08
