Field Technician/Engineer – (Automation Systems)

 

This position is located in Austin, Texas.  30-50% Travel; typical destinations include Houston, Texas, St. Louis Missouri, Atlanta, Georgia, and associated rural plant locations.  * FlexConnect solutions provide a method of connecting pre-engineered cables and/or boards to the existing automation system termination panels—marshalling the field signals to the DeltaV I/O. This pre-engineered marshalling solution saves time by avoiding the need to rewire existing field wiring, minimizing process downtime when upgrading legacy systems to new technology

 

Minimum Requirements:

- Demonstrate good knowledge of the process automation industry, and the various

  hardware / software products and services

- Have good people skills (presentation, verbal and written).

- Understand field wiring and analog / discrete field devices

- Experience with instrumentation signal wiring and signal conditioning for DCS and PLC terminations and marshalling systems

- Experience with power and grounding systems relating to signal/instrumentation wiring, DCS and PLC trouble shooting and installations.

- Understand Intrinsic Safety, isolation and zener barriers. Able to perform calculations to

  determine if barriers are suitable for use with DeltaV IO cards

- Be able to read and understand schematics of termination panels, use of jumpers, dip

  switches and dip shunts

- Interface with customers and help them identify their *FlexConnect solution

- Perform plant survey to gather information required for quotations.

- Identify change orders and justify changes.

- Be well organized.

 

Not required however a plus to have :

- Thorough understanding of DeltaV IO cards, iput/output parameters, current

  limiting and off state leakage.

- Ability to operate DeltaV Explorer, Diagnostics and Autocon

- Understand I/O capabilities of legacy DCS systems

 

Minimum Education Requirements:

AA Technical Degree + 6 years experience
