Field Engineer

Job description:
The position requires an independent, technically minded person with an engineering background to set up and operate borehole surveying / ranging tools in oil and gas drilling wells. This is a field position that requires a flexible schedule. The engineer will be required to work independently analyzing data and making recommendations on-site that affect our clients' drilling programs. Strong interpersonal and computer skills and an understanding of basic physics and basic electrical circuitry required.

We are a small engineering, manufacturing and service company offering ranging services and hardware sales for directional drilling in the oil and gas and construction industries. Since 1985 we have been the industry leader in ranging technology and hardware with many unique products and services. We are a small and dynamic company with an almost nonexistent employee turnover rate. Based in Ithaca New York, we have recently established a field service location in Morgantown, WV to service the fast growing Coal Bed Methane production market.

Responsibilites:
- Conduct on-site operations and communicate results to our clients.
- Maintain, calibrate and test software and electronics.
- Interface with customers in relation to products, procedures, and equipment.
- May assist in writing and reviewing job procedures and or recommendations.
- Run analytical software in a real-time mode.
- Work as part of a rotation on a 24 hour on-call basis.
- Some situations will require working for more than 12 hours in a row.
Selection Criteria:Â
- B.S. Engineering from an accredited program preferred. (prefer Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering)
- Background in oilfield drilling, or surveying a plus.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills - must be able to work effectively with various people/groups.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills.                                     Â
- Ability to handle many assignments at once and be able to work effectively under deadlines and changing conditions.Â
- Valid driver's license.- Satisfactory driving record.- Ability to work flexible schedule, including long and/or irregular hours.
- Some travel required.
