Chevron North America Exploration and Production is accepting online applications for the position of Exploration Geologist/Geophysicist located in Covington, Louisiana.Overview:Headquartered in Houston, Texas, CNAEP provides crucial energy resources to North America. With more than 5,000 employees, we are exploring for and producing energy from the frozen Arctic to the depths of the Gulf of Mexico.Based in Covington, Louisiana, the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Business Unit is the largest leaseholder on the outer continental shelf in the Gulf of Mexico. GOM has a wide variety of assets and projects, including offshore platforms in shallow and deep water, onshore operations, crude oil, natural gas, gas plants, waterfloods, deep drilling, subsea wells, high pressure, high temperature drilling, non-operated joint ventures as well as commercial and technical expertise.As an Exploration Geologist/Geophysicist, you will work with a team of Earth Scientists exploring the Central GOM Shelf and coastal parishes of South Louisiana with a focus on Deep Gas Exploration. The position requires interpretation of seismic and well log data to creatively develop new prospects as well as mature leased prospects to drill decision.Qualifications:Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: Interpreting primarily 3D seismic data. Correlating well logs. Generating maps and cross sections. Making presentations to support and document recommendations and analysis.Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related discipline. A minimum of 3 years directly related experience. Knowledge of UNIX based work station interpretation systems and applications. Familiarity with exploration and seismic work processes including basic seismic processing, leasing, prospect generation and maturation, risk analysis and exploratory drilling. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with extensional basins and clastic depositional systems. Experience with IESX and Landmark software. The ability to screen outside deals and represent Chevron at partner meetings.
