We provide full-scale professional services to both public and private sector transportation clients.SummaryEntry level developmental position involved in the application of engineering fundamentals to design or construction of roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation systems, pipelines, and power plants by performing the following duties.Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.1. Assists others in analyzing reports, maps, surveys, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to perform routine design tasks.2. Encouraged to try to solve engineering problems using judgment, and education, but is expected to ask for assistance when needed.3. May be asked to participate in non-design engineering activities such as construction inspection and materials testing, surveying, CADD production, and field data collection.4. Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected. 5. Research design options and document findings for Senior Project Engineer.6. Uses computer to solve engineering problems and improve the project team's design process. 7. Maintains project database by writing computer programs; entering and backing up data.8. Researches code requirements.9. Prepares environmental impact and other administrative reports required for project permits.10. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.11. Keeps Senior Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule or scope or additional services.12. Maintain neat and organized work area that allows efficient access to project information as required by other team members.13. Ability to create and maintain project records.14. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.15. Assist or participate in preparation of business proposals.16. Attend Project Manager training to begin to develop project management skills.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDirects and supervises technicians performing CADD/MicroStation production and occasionally assumes responsibility for other basic level engineers.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
