Engineering / Business Development Lead

Position Description:

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Engineering / Business Development Lead to support electric power design and business development activities from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) office. Significant travel in the region will be required. Periodic visits to the firm’s home office in Chicago will be needed to maintain interfaces with the project teams supporting work in the region. Candidate must be able to travel for extended periods in the MENA region as well as overseas, and be able to easily travel to the USA, throughout the MENA region and Europe. Responsibilities:Responsibilities include maintaining contact with the firm’s clients, and supporting project and proposal activities in the MENA region. Working with the director of the MENA services, the Engineering / Business Development Lead will provide technical and commercial contacts with clients including:• participating in bidder meetings• discussing opportunities for new work • supporting client meetings for on-going projects • monitoring of on-going activities, and• supporting the home office project teams, as needed

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:1) A Bachelor or Masters Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.2) Fluent in Arabic and English languages3) Experience in power plant design, staff supervision, coordination between engineer, contractor and utility/developer4) Experience in business development and technical knowledge of the electric power industry in the MENA region5) 5 years of power plant design experience in the MENA region as well as overseas6) 10 years of work experience in Europe, Canada, or the USA in the electric power industryPreferred Qualifications1) Experience in the design of both conventional steam cycle and combined cycle designs for electric power stations2) Experience in combined water and power facilities3) French language capability
