Engineer - Embedded
We are seeking someone to be a member of our engineering team in the development of embedded real-time software subsystems. Technologies within the embedded domain range from complex device drivers to multi-threaded object oriented applications all in support of Layer 2 Ethernet focused services. Work will include developing unit test cases to enhance the analysis of the system and to flush out issues during the development process. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES· Design, develop, test and debug Ciena’s Data Networking Embedded Software Subsystems ranging from infrastructure to protocols to device drivers· Application development of a distributed, real-time, highly available, multi-threaded embedded system· Use of traffic generators, protocol analyzers, to further refine and ensure robustness in the software design and implementation SKILLS· Experience in C++ programming and OOD· Embedded operating systems and single board computers· Application development environments· Data networking switching and Layer 2 protocols (e.g. Bridging, Routing, Tunneling) DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS· Desire and Enthusiasm to design and develop Ethernet Switching and Embedded Systems· Positive aptitude for and a demonstrated aptitude for software development is essential· Team player as a member of a professional and highly competent project team environment EDUCATION and/or RELEVANT EXPERIENCE· Full-time or part-time student at participating colleges/universities· Computer Science Major with a 3.0 minimum GPA   Company: Ciena Corporation Location: Job location not provided Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: Engineering Career Level: Entry Level Occupations: General/Other: Engineering;Systems/Process Engineering Industry: Engineering Services Company: Ciena Corporation Email: Apply by Email
