ATK is looking for a Design Engineer in our Ronkonkoma, NY location. The ideal candidate will perform the design of components or portions of a functional system to develop products and facilitate manufacturing and test operations.Utilize computer-aided design equipment (Pro-engineer), develop basic data and make preliminary CAD models and layouts, sketches and notes necessary to present design proposal to internal and external customers. Make drawings of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures. Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strenght-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Apply technical expertise and has knowledge of other related disciplines. Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require regular use of ingenuity and creativity.Interact with related disciplines to derive solutions Primary responsibility and required expertise focuses on mechanical design of high pressure, high temperature systems and components.Application of structural and thermal analysis.Pro-e CAD modeling and drafting.knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously from conception through delivery. B.S., M.S., or Ph. D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.Minimum 5 years experience developing design solutions and generating CAD models and drawings . Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work in a team environment is neccessary.DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
