You will work with a small team of analysts and engineers who are dedicated to the development and enhancement of hypersonic technology and air breathing propulsion systems up to MACH 8. The focus will be thermal design and analysis, and the opportunity exists to work with all aspects of aerothermal design and analysis, and testing of hypersonic and rocket systems. Mission Systems has annual sales of more than $1.5 Billion and approximately 4,300 employees.More information is available at our web site, www.atk.com Description -Conduct thermal design and analysis of hypersonic engines and systems, solid and liquid rocket components and vehicle thermalprotection systems (TPS) utilizing in-house and commercial codes -Support rig, engine and component test programs with planning and pre and post test data analysis and correlation -Represent the thermal discipline on program teams, internal and external reviews and technical symposiums when required -Document thermal results and assist the discipline with writing proposals and technical papers. -Some travel for customer reviews and engine testing will be requiredRequirements -Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. in Aero or Mechanical Engineering -5 or more years experience performing heat transfer and related analyses -Background must include hands-on work with convective and radiative heat transfer and secondary flow with demonstrated understanding of compressible flow -Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisiteDesired -Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams within their budget and schedule constraints -Ability to develop new approaches to solve challenging problems and to create sound reasoning to support technical conclusions and recommendations -Excellent written and oral communications skillsATK is on the move.
